Pleasant NFL Surprise No. 4: Pittsburgh Steelers

It’s not that people didn’t think the Pittsburgh Steelers would be good this year, but rather that they didn’t think they’d look this good. The Steelers, at 9-0, are the only undefeated team left in the league and they’ve looked pretty dang impressive on both sides of the ball to get to that 9-0 mark.

It’s going to be tough for the Steelers to finish the season without a loss, as they play the Bills, Colts, and Ravens to close out the season and there’s going to be at least one loss out of that group. Still, after going 8-8 with a third-string quarterback a season ago, the Steelers have shown they’re legitimate Super Bowl threats.

Not many people gave Pittsburgh a shot to win the AFC North over the Ravens, who went 14-2 last year and looked unstoppable. But, here they are, now three games up on Baltimore and looking like a shoo-in to win the division barring a big collapse.

The Steelers have relied on their incredible defense this season, but their offense is no slouch either, with Chase Claypool having a rookie season for the ages. Pittsburgh is going to be a tough out in the playoffs and while most expected them to be playoff contenders in the 2020 season, people didn’t see it going quite this well for the Steelers.
