2. Minnesota’s passing attack will thrive again

One thing that has been a common occurrence for the Vikings so far in 2020 has been their dominant ground game led by star running back Dalvin Cook out of the backfield. Going into Week 15, Minnesota holds the sixth-ranked rushing offense in the NFL, averaging 146.9 yards per game with 15 total touchdowns on the ground in 13 contests.

With that dominant rushing attack, opposing defenses have tried to focus on that portion of the Vikings offense which has allowed the passing game led by quarterback Kirk Cousins and company to thrive as of late.

Through Week 14, Minnesota’s passing offense ranks 17th in the NFL, averaging 253.7 yards per game through the air. In the last matchup against Chicago in Week 10, Cousins and the passing game countered the dominant running game with a solid performance to help lead to victory on the road.

In the Week 10 win over the Bears on Monday Night Football, the Vikings recorded nearly 300 yards through the air with two touchdowns from Cousins under center. Cousins completed 25 passes on 36 attempts, also throwing for one interception along the way.

In the receiving game, Justin Jefferson had eight catches for 135 yards, with Kyle Rudolph tallying four catches for 63 yards and Adam Thielen recording four receptions for 43 yards and two touchdowns.

In Week 15 against Chicago on Sunday, the ground game will do just enough to allow the passing attack to counter it much like what we saw from it during the Week 10 contest between the Vikings and Bears. In the end, Minnesota’s passing offense will thrive once again.
