FanDuel NFL Wild Card Round Picks and Advice: Running Back

Running back is one of the more challenging positions this week, as it is hard to not overspend due to the quality of backs on this slate. Derrick Henry ($10,200) is of course the most expensive back on the slate and whether or not you play or fade him will likely decide your fate this week. Even though he can go for 200+ yards and two touchdowns any given week, I will probably be underweight on him, as his price tag strongly inhibits you from getting exposure to other stud running backs and wide receivers.

Alvin Kamara ($9,000) is a strong pivot off of Henry, as he will likely come in under-rostered due to him still being listed as on the IR. If healthy, he has a similar floor and similar upside as Henry but at $1200 cheaper.

David Montgomery ($8,400) and Jonathan Taylor ($8,800) have both been blazing hot, and while I think Taylor is a fantastic play this week, I also think we see Montgomery struggle a bit against a brutal New Orleans run defense. However, his involvement in the passing game exponentially increases when the Bears are playing from behind, so I also think we could see an game script that leads to plenty of targets for Montgomery.

The best value play on the slate is easily J.K Dobbins ($6,800), who has scored in six straight games and is coming off his best game of the year. With the season on the line, the Ravens will feed their most talented back who will get it done against a poor Tennessee defense. Finally, Cam Akers ($6,100) is a fantastic value with the Rams likely leaning on their run game regardless of their starting quarterback. Akers will likely see 25+ touches against an average Seattle run defense, making him a great play at only $6,100.
