Saturday Wild Card DraftKings NFL picks: Running Backs

One thing you have to look for with a three-game slate at running back is heavy workload. That’s why Jonathan Taylor ($7,900) is in an absolute smash spot for the Colts. Not only is he coming off of a 250-yard game in Week 17 but he’s getting the lion’s share of touches for an offense that wants to run the ball and is up against a defense that is bottom-third against the run this season.

Antonio Gibson ($5,700) is another play that intrigues me a great deal for the Saturday Wild Card slate on DraftKings. While he’s listed as questionable, he had 33 touches over Washington’s final two games and his pass-catching prowess could be used to attack a Tampa defense playing without Devin White. J.D. McKissic ($4,800) may be even more interesting in that aspect, especially if Gibson isn’t a full go.

If you’re not on Cam Akers ($5,100) this week, you’re going about this all wrong. He’s dominating the touches in the Rams backfield right now as both a runner and pass-catcher and goes up against a middle of the road Seahawks defense. Frankly, he’s mispriced and you should be taking advantage of that.

Another potential option if you’re looking for a cheap play is Colts backup Nyheim Hines ($4,700). He continues to get solid passing game usage that, if he breaks one, could pay off a cheap price and allow you a lot of flexibility in your lineup.

For me, you should fade Chris Carson ($5,900). Even with the work he’s getting, he’s splitting time and hasn’t been all that effective. I also dislike the matchup for Ronald Jones II ($5,500) and his performance has often been sporadic as well. And forget about both Zack Moss ($4,600) and Devin Singletary ($4,300) as neither player is getting enough touches to warrant being in your lineup.
