Indianapolis Colts: 7-Round 2021 NFL mock draft after Wild Card loss
The fact that the Colts secondary performed as well as it did in the 2020 season is a testament to the coaching staff. Because outside of young Rock Ya-Sin, the group was largely comprised of veterans that did not offer much in the way of proven performance, at least as of late. But as Indianapolis moves forward, they can’t bank on players possibly playing above their heads again and must bring in reinforcements.
Getting Tyson Campbell out of Georgia in the second round could be a huge win for the Colts. In terms of raw talent, few players in the 2021 draft class can match what the Bulldog brings to the table. He’s a terrific man-to-man cover corner on the outside. And while he lacks elite ball skills and proficiency in zone coverage, coming to Indianapolis could help him develop those traits and become a premier NFL corner given his physical skill set with length and athleticism in droves.
Entering the 2019 season, there were many people who believed that Walker Little could’ve been a first-round pick. But after suffering an injury and revisiting the film, his stock began to plummet a bit. But even if he’s not a top-32 player in the 2021 NFL Draft class, he’s still well worth a third-round pick with upside.
At 6-7 and 309 pounds, he has more than adequate size and is a fine athlete. He’s also quite strong and, when he gets a good punch, he has dominant length at the point of attack. The issue is that he can often be beaten by speed and smaller rushers, which then somewhat negates his strengths.
Having said that, the Colts have shown the ability to put offensive linemen in positions where they can succeed and coach the positions well. With the future of Anthony Castonzo likely not long for the NFL, drafting a replacement such as Little could be quite valuable.
