FanDuel NFL Divisional Round Picks and Advice: Running Back

As the remaining teams get smaller and smaller, running back becomes one of the hardest positions to adapt to, as each team usually only has one fantasy viable back as opposed to depth at wide receiver.

Alvin Kamara ($9,000) is the most expensive play on the slate, though his usage in the passing game has all but vanished even with Drew Brees back in the lineup. Fortunately, he has made up for his lack of volume in the passing game with his season-high in carries in back to back games.

He has a combined 21 attempts for 56 yards on the ground in his two games against Tampa Bay this season, so they have certainly been able to keep him in check. While I still view him as the best running back on the slate, there are certainly viable pivot options if you do not want to spend up for Kamara.

Nick Chubb ($8,200) is a fantastic pivot off of Kamara, as he has been consistently efficient throughout the season and gets a matchup with a Kansas City defense that has not been able to stop the run. For this reason, Kareem Hunt ($6,200) is also a great value and should see some valuable touches, though he lacks the big play ability of Chubb.

I also fully expect the Rams to continue to rely on Cam Akers ($7,000) after he carried them through the Wild Card Round with 176 total yards on 30 touches. Even though Green Bay has been much improved against the run in recent weeks, Akers will likely play the highest snap percentage of any running back on this slate.

Finally, there is plenty of value to be had with Clyde Edwards-Helaire ($6,100) if he is healthy. The ability to get the starting running back for the Kansas City Chiefs at only $6,100 is hard to pass up, as there should be plenty of pass-catching and red zone opportunities as Mahomes drives the ball down the field with ease against Cleveland’s weak secondary.
