Green Bay Packers: 5 Offseason moves to get Aaron Rodgers to the Super Bowl
4. Address the obvious issues at cornerback
The NFC Championship Game was, plainly, an awful day at the office for cornerback Kevin King. On the opening Packers defensive drive, King got beat in man coverage against Mike Evans and gave up a touchdown, further embarrassing himself when he badly mistimed a last-ditch jump to break up the pass. He was also torched by Scotty Miller on another touchdown and committed the penalty that sealed Green Bay’s fate.

King has been a problem at numerous times throughout the past year but, frankly, he was the best option the team had outside of Jaire Alexander. While Green Bay can be confident that they have one of the best young players at the position in the league with Alexander, the truth of the matter is that they don’t possess the necessary depth around him to be a stalwart defense.
That has to change this offseason. With King and others at the position set to hit free agency, it’s hard to believe that the Packers will look to re-sign him, especially after this type of performance. Both in free agency and in the 2021 NFL Draft, though, Green Bay needs to make clear moves to shore up the cornerback group.
In the draft, targeting players such as Asante Samuel Jr., Tyson Campbell, Eric Stokes, Jaycee Horn or many others would be great options at the end of the first round. Via free agency, they could look at veterans such as Patrick Peterson, Jason McCourty, Brian Poole or several others that could help the cause. But what’s certain is that it’s a weakness that needs to be fixed.
