The rival New England Patriots will potentially lose guard Joe Thuney after five season with the team. In half a decade with the Patriots, Thuney has started every game since his first as a rookie. At 28 years old, Thuney would give the Buffalo Bills an incredible return on their investment.
While Thuney is an above-average pass-protector, his true skill set has been exemplified in New England’s versatile running game. In Buffalo’s run-heavy scheme, which includes utilizing the physical play style of franchise quarterback Josh Allen, Thuney would add immense value to Sean McDermott’s offense.
Although he has yet to be named to a Pro-Bowl, Thuney is regarded highly around the league for his well-rounded ability and for making a seamless adjustment from offensive tackle in college to offensive guard in the NFL.
As New England is seemingly without an identity after the 2020 season, there’s a high likelihood Thuney will be finding a new home. If the Buffalo Bills decide to shell out a large sum of money to just one big name this offseason, Thuney would be the guy that the franchise won’t regret.
