NFL: Ranking the worst QB Chemistry in the league: 21. Patrick Mahomes to Clyde Edwards-Helaire

There is so much wrong with the Kansas City Chiefs offense this season. Patrick Mahomes is a mess, and he can’t seem to find chemistry in general. He isn’t able to find the right time to drop a bomb to Tyreek Hill. His chemistry and trust for Travis Kelce to make a play is just off. The entire offense runs through Mahomes, and he’s not living up to his hype.

However, that chemistry has been there for years between Mahomes, Hill, and Kelce. Most people believe he will figure it out. One player that’s never had chemistry with Mahomes is former LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. He was drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft, and it seemed like a perfect fit. He wasn’t a typical college running back who was looking to destroy opposing defenses. His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield was as important as his running style.

Edwards-Helaire had 55 catches in his final year at LSU. He has eight in five games this season. He was alright last season with 36 catches, but he fell off a cliff despite not necessarily hitting expectations last year. He’s a straight-up disappointment this year, and now he’s still nursing his way back from injury.

Edwards-Helaire just never truly fit in Kansas City, and that lack of chemistry is leading to a clear lack of confidence. He’s fumbled this season, something that’s never been a problem for him before. He just isn’t playing well, and Mahomes isn’t finding him out of the backfield.
