Dante Fowler Jr. option No. 2: San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers have a ton of upcoming free agents, specifically along the defensive front.

On the previous page, we talked about pairing Dante Fowler Jr. with Joey Bosa. Here, we pair him up with Nick Bosa.

There is no official stat for this, at least not that I know of, but it feels like the San Francisco 49ers take on a lot of former high draft choices in the low-risk, high-reward category.

Somehow, the 49ers were able to retain defensive coordinator Demeco Ryans, whose unit showed some tremendous improvement in the first year without Robert Saleh (Jets head coach).

I think the 49ers have the combination of need and structure in their organization right now to really be a productive option for Dante Fowler Jr.

Of course, this was a unit that already finished in the top 5 of the NFL last season with 48 total sacks as a team.

That was without Dee Ford and without Javon Kinlaw for all but four games last season.

Even with Dee Ford coming back, a player like Fowler in the rotation off the edge could push this 49ers team over the hump in the NFC West and give their divisional opponents fits on a weekly basis.
