NFL star Baker Mayfield traded during the 2022 NFL Draft?

I struggled with the idea of putting Baker Mayfield on this list, as the Browns are in one of the worst positions to trade him. While the veteran has flashed before as a capable quarterback and team leader, he is easily coming off his worst season as a pro.

Add in the Browns’ hectic offseason at quarterback and there aren’t a lot of things favoring them in a potential trade for Mayfield.

After completing the biggest trade deal in NFL history for Deshaun Watson and following that up by giving him a fully guaranteed contract, the Browns are clearly moving on from Mayfield.

The NFL isn’t dumb to that, and they know that at Mayfield’s salary, him being cut is squarely on the table. Thus, trade offers are likely to be lower even though Mayfield is widely viewed as a starting quarterback.

When the draft actually gets here though, teams may be more willing to move Mayfield. This would likely happen if a team in need of a quarterback such as Seattle or Carolina misses out on their top draft prospect.

They can flip a later pick for Mayfield and just roll with him for the year. Don’t expect the compensation to be great, but Mayfield seems like a great option to be dealt in this year’s draft.
