Fantasy Football: Three best values at running back in 2022
Dameon Pierce is one of the few players with a guaranteed workload this late in Fantasy Football drafts.
- Should be locked in as RB1 for Texans
- Low draft capital makes investment low risk
- College profile as a pass-catching back
After some strong preseason performances, Dameon Pierce projects to be the starting running back on a Texans team with one of the worst running back rooms in the NFL. The Texans drafted Pierce out of Florida in the fourth round and should be interested to see what their young talent has to offer as opposed to a known veteran like Rex Burkhead or Marlon Mack.
During his time in Florida, Pierce was an extremely ferocious runner, who could generate plenty of yards after contact all while maintaining elusiveness. More importantly, he was extremely solid out of the backfield catching passes. If he can take over as a three-down back, he will almost certainly be fantasy relevant, even on a likely anemic Texans offense. Even if he does not handle all of the work, at RB41 he was a low investment and likely not going to be one of your starting running backs anyway.
At this ADP, there is not a single player that could have the immediate fantasy relevance that Dameon Pierce has, and do not be surprised when he finishes as a top 20 running back on the year.
