Week 4 of the NFL season kicks off Thursday night in Ohio as the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns renew their very fierce rivalry.
On Sunday, five clubs will look to run their record to 4-0. That includes the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders, who face each other in Sin City.
Meanwhile, five other teams will be looking for their first victory of this season. That includes the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers—both playoff teams in 2025.

This NFL season is off to a high-flying start. There have been a total of 48 regular-season games played to date. There have been 31 instances in which a team has scored at least 30 points, and the teams hitting that mark own a 23-8 win-loss record this season. A year ago at this time, clubs hit the 30-point mark just 24 times after three weeks. In Week 3 of 2026, a season-high 12 teams scored 30 or more points. That includes the Detroit Lions, who have totaled exactly 31 points in each of their three outings this season.

There have been seven instances in NFL history in which a team has overcome a 0-3 start to reach the postseason. One franchise has actually done it twice. Those clubs are the 1981 New York Jets, the 1982 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 1992 then-San Diego Chargers (who actually opened 0-4), the 1995 Detroit Lions, the 1998 Buffalo Bills, and both the 2018 and 2025 Houston Texans. Only two of those teams won playoff games. The ’92 Bolts bested the Chiefs and this past season the Texans embarrassed the Steelers.

New England Patriots’ quarterback Drake Maye had quite the second NFL season. The third overall pick in the ’24 draft helped the Pats win the AFC East and reach Super Bowl LX. He threw for 4,394 yards and 31 touchdowns in 17 regular-season outings, and turned over the ball only 11 times. Starting with the 2025 postseason, there has been a severe dropoff in his play. In his last seven outings, Maye has thrown seven TD passes, been picked off 10 times and lost five-of-nine fumbles. It adds up to a stunning 15 turnovers.

When you think of the Seattle Seahawks and the number 11, it can only mean 2025 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He and New Orleans’ Chris Olave both have an NFL-high 27 catches. Smith-Njigba leads the league with 405 receiving yards and six touchdown grabs. But in this instance, the figure represents the number of combined points that Mike Macdonald’s team has lost by in four defeats (compared to 19 overall wins) dating back to the start of the 2025 season—all by four points or less.

A season ago, the 8-9 Carolina Panthers won the NFC South. It marked the second time in four years that the division title had been captured by a team with a losing mark. Three weeks into 2026, the NFC South is not only the lone division in the NFL without a team with a winning record, the Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a combined 0-5 at home. The Bucs, Panthers, and Saints all host games this week, Carolina (Sunday night) and New Orleans (Monday night) in prime time.
