It’s been a very entertaining start to the league’s 107th campaign. Regardless of how many games have played, at least six teams have scored 30 or more points in each of their season’s first eight weeks.

Let’s go back to last week’s selections. There was a big swing and a miss when it came to the Browns sweeping the Steelers. And so much for the Rams and Chargers playing a turnover-free game—although Sean McVay’s club did get the victory.

On the other hand, the Denver Broncos did hand the Kansas City Chiefs a second consecutive loss. Let’s call it a 1-0-1 week. But the idea is perfection here, so here are three more intriguing selections from the Week 9 slate.

Here are 3 bold predictions for NFL Week 9

No rain in Spain means Falcons will surprise surging Bengals

Just one week after Kevin Stefanski’s team handed the San Francisco 49ers their first loss of 2026, the Atlanta Falcons had their wings clipped in rainy Tampa by the Buccaneers, 16-0. Todd Bowles’s club ran for 324 yards via the combination of Bucky Irving and Kenneth Gainwell, while Atlanta’s Michael Penix Jr. completed eight passes to his teammates and four to Tampa defenders.

Last Sunday, Joe Burrow threw five touchdown passes and rescued the Bengals in overtime against the Tennessee Titans, 43-36. He also served up three interceptions. It’s hard to see Cincinnati’s shoddy defense slowing down Bijan Robinson.

Panthers get back to .500 with upset of Broncos

Has there been a more unpredictable team in the league this season than Dave Canales’s reigning NFC South champions? The Carolina Panthers opened the season with a 22-point home loss to the Chicago Bears, then rebounded to win at Atlanta, 34-3. After besting the talented Detroit Lions on a Sunday night in Week 4, Carolina came back after its off week and lost at home to the Buccaneers, 43-13.

After splitting their first four games, Sean Payton’s team has taken over first place in the AFC West thanks to a four-game winning streak. On Sunday, the Broncos won’t slow down Panthers’ running back Chuba Hubbard.

Cowboys’ defense falters again in overtime loss to Colts

The team ranks has allowed both the most total yards and most rushing yards per game, and only give teams in the league are allowing more points per contest. The Dallas Cowboys set a dubious franchise record by giving up 511 points in 2025, the most in the league, and defensive coordinator Christian Parker’s unit has already surrendered 25 offensive touchdowns in eight games.

Brian Schottenheimer’s squad will be in Indianapolis on Sunday to take on the Colts, losers of four straight games. Jonathan Taylor has his way with the Cowboys’ defense, and Dallas falls in extra time for the second consecutive week.
