The 2027 NFL Draft is slowly but surely coming into focus.

Although the 2027 class is being more defined right now by disappointment due to unmet expectations of "generational" status, this is still going to be one of the most polarizing classes in recent memory.

Our newest 2027 NFL mock draft takes a look at the entire 1st round after the Chicago Bears pulled off a blockbuster trade for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, giving up multiple 1st-round picks into the future. That trade could shake up the draft significantly, and not just for what the Titans could do with the pick they are getting from the Bears. Are they now in the QB market?

We have quarterbacks going near the top of this mock draft as well as in the back half of round one. There are playmakers galore. Let's dive into the latest 1st-round predictions as Week 8 gets underway.

2027 NFL Mock Draft: Full 1st-round predictions after Jeffery Simmons trade

1. Los Angeles Chargers: Jeremiah Smith, WR, Ohio State

Whatever team ends up with the #1 overall pick, it’s probably going to be Jeremiah Smith. You can’t say that with 100 percent certainty, but Smith presents a unique combination of NFL-readiness and a high floor as a prospect, along with being a blue-chip talent with elite traits.

The term “generational” is too loosely thrown around, but you can safely call Smith a “slam dunk” as a prospect. Elite in every way.

2. Tennessee Titans: Drew Mestemaker, QB, Oklahoma State

Here we have our first real drastic change of strategy for the Titans in the NFL Draft. The trade of Jeffery Simmons said as much about Cam Ward – at least, if you’re asking me – as it did about the state of the franchise.

If the Titans thought Ward was close to turning it around, why would you trade Simmons, who you just re-signed this offseason to a massive contract? Ward has clearly disappointed the franchise, and they might be ready to move on after another 10 games.

3. Miami Dolphins: CJ Carr, QB Notre Dame

This is the highest we’ve had Notre Dame QB CJ Carr going in one of our way-too-early 2027 NFL mock drafts, but quarterbacks make NFL teams do surprising things.

At this point, the quarterback class in 2027 has been a disappointment compared to expectations. Carr, however, has been one of the few to truly emerge. The Dolphins have the luxury of patience if they want to give Malik Willis another year as the bridge here, but Carr has qualities NFL teams are looking for and the Dolphins have time.

4. Washington Commanders: Colin Simmons, EDGE, Texas

The Washington Commanders are sitting in a pretty great spot here with all of Colin Simmons, Dylan Stewart, and Leonard Moore sitting on the board. They simply have to take the best defensive player available, unless they somehow have a shot at Jeremiah Smith when it’s all said and done.

You can’t go wrong with Simmons here. He’s been the definition of a game-wrecker with at least one sack in every game he’s played this season, including an absolutely ridiculous 5.5 sacks in Texas’s game against Tennessee. He has an insane 16 tackles for loss in the first six games he’s played in 2026.
