The MVP race across the NFL is heating up, but there aren't many legitimate candidates at the moment. The two most obvious are the two best QBs in the NFL, but after that, it is truly wide open.
As we have done, we've outlined our updated MVP power rankings now that Week 13 is officially in the books. In the coming weeks, the MVP race will become more clear, and some playoff-clinching scenarios will also appear as well.
Let's get into our MVP power rankings with a new no. 1 ranked player.
It's now Drake Maye's MVP to lose after another strong performance
4. The field
It's really hard to find another player to put at the no. 4 spot in our MVP power rankings. I went with 'the field' here, which could consistent of guys like Josh Allen, Jonathan Taylor, Caleb Williams, Bo Nix, or someone else. There really aren't many clear-cut MVP candidates right now besides the two top players in our rankings.
3. Jordan Love, QB, Green Bay Packers
Jordan Love is definitely getting himself into the MVP conversation. He's been a very efficient QB this year, and the Green Bay Packers are now 8-3-1 after sweeping the Detroit Lions, winning last on Thanksgiving. Love has been exceptional this year and can make any throw on the field, but I doubt Love wins the MVP without the NFC North title.
2. Matthew Stafford, QB, Los Angeles Rams
Matthew Stafford threw a pick-six and had two interceptions in a shaky LA Rams loss over the Carolina Panthers. For the time being, the Rams' QB drops to no. 2 in our MVP rankings, as it's clear who passed him up in Week 13. Stafford has still arguably been the best QB in the NFL this year, and even the best have off days.
The Rams still put up a ton of points, and you could honestly argue that the defense was the reason LA lost, not the offense. Stafford drops to no. 2, paving the way for an AFC QB to regain the top spot in our power rankings.
1. Drake Maye, QB, New England Patriots
Drake Maye and the New England Patriots are 11-2 on the season after a blowout win over the New York Giants on MNF in Week 13. Maye is the favorite for the MVP now, as, for the time being, the Patriots have the best record in the NFL. New England will be on the bye in Week 14, and the Denver Broncos are right on their tail for that top AFC seed, but Maye has been on another level this year and is actually playing without great weapons. The Pats' roster is still just OK, so this might not even be the best we see this team.
