Through the first six weeks of the 2026 NFL Season, it's clear which teams are emerging as the very best, but with that being said, all of these top teams do seem to have at least one glaring issue, which could also mean the league is wide open this year.
Unsurprisingly, though, we are seeing many of the same teams near the top of the NFL hierarchy that we've seen for years now, so the more things change, the more they stay the same. Now that Week 6 is about over, and the midway point of the season isn't far off, things are going to begin to ramp up more and more.
Let's dive into our latest Super Bowl contender power rankings with Monday Night Football approaching.
Updated Super Bowl contender power rankings with MNF approaching
8. New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are seeing quarterback Drake Maye really begin to play well. Over the past three weeks, Maye has tossed 10 touchdown passes against just one interception. What we saw earlier in the season might have simply been a slump, and while Maye and the Patriots are an easy team to criticize, they do have a QB who finished second in the MVP voting last year and a roster that just got to the Super Bowl.
We could be approaching a period of time where our accusations of the Patriots being schedule-merchants just isn't really the case anymore. This feels like a juggernaut of a team at the moment.
7. Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears got Caleb Williams back in Week 6, and he had a hyper-efficient game against the Atlanta Falcons. Chicago's defense has definitely played better this year than last year, but you also get the sense that if the Bears were to make a trade deadline addition, it would likely come on that side of the ball, as Chicago's offense can be top-tier when Williams is doing his thing.
The Bears won 11 games last year and won the NFC North, and while the North is quite stacked this year, there really isn't anything with the Bears that would make you think they can't win the division again. And if the defense can continue playing solid football, where would the Bears sport a major roster concern?
