The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of the best teams in the NFL heading into Week 8, and certainly not a team looking to "sell" at the 2026 NFL trade deadline.
However...
If the right offer comes along for wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., they might be inclined to at least listen. The messaging right now from the Jaguars is that Thomas -- a 1st-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft -- is not someone they're actively looking to deal. Actions speak louder than words, however.
Thomas didn't play in the second half of the Jaguars' loss against the Houston Texans in Week 6, so many are wondering if it's only a matter of time before he's dealt. Regardless, there are three teams that need Thomas more than others leading up to the deadline.
3 teams that need WR Brian Thomas Jr. the most at the 2026 NFL trade deadline
1. Kansas City Chiefs
Here is the dilemma: The Kansas City Chiefs need Brian Thomas Jr. and his ability to stretch the field vertically more than any other team in the league, but why would the Jacksonville Jaguars be willing to help out a fellow AFC contender?
You would hope, even with the possibility of a 1st-round pick to entice him, that Jaguars GM James Gladstone wouldn't bite on this one. However, if the Jaguars do become motivated to trade Thomas, and the price tag is something they like (or aren't being offered by anyone else)...
Basically, this would have a non-zero chance of happening. It feels extremely unlikely given just the competitive spirit behind it, but you never know. After injuries to Tyquan Thornton and Rashee Rice, you could argue that no team around the league needs Thomas right now more than Kansas City.
2. San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers are struggling with injuries. Stop me if you've heard that one before.
Sadly, it's true.
The 49ers have had injury issues up and down their roster this year, but they have gotten absolutely blasted at the wide receiver position. The latest issue is that Mike Evans -- who has emerged as their obvious WR1 this season -- is dealing with both an Achilles injury and a rib injury. He's been playing through the pain this season, but reinforcements might be needed.
The 49ers might be the most obvious possible landing spot for someone like Thomas if they're motivated to make a deal. The Jaguars could trade him out of the conference completely in this case.
3. Atlanta Falcons
They aren't getting talked about as much as other teams right now, but after a slow start, the Falcons have shown over the past month that they might legitimately have one of the best overall offenses in the entire league.
Kyle Pitts has been a capable secondary threat in the passing game, but the Falcons desperately need a true WR2 to take some pressure off Drake London.
London would also help open up opportunities for a player like Thomas, who is stuck on the depth chart logjam that is the Jaguars' receiver room.
Once again, this would give the Jaguars an opportunity to trade Thomas out of the conference, and to a team that has legitimate aspirations of contending for a division title in the NFC South right now.
