The NFL season has been incredibly generous with records and historic moments early on. For the second week in a row, there were three moments that went down in league history books. What are we in store for this week?
Only time will tell once the games start going for the week. However, these are the historic moments and records that could be broken heading into Week 3 of the fast-moving NFL season so far, ranked from least likely to occur to most likely to occur. Before we get to that, however, there needs to be a toast to all the historic moments and records that happened in Week 2.
A big congratulations to the Buffalo Bills for playing its first game in the new Highmark Stadium. Another record that was broken this weekend was the Dallas Cowboys' all-time passing touchdowns mark, which now belongs to Dak Prescott after his four-touchdown performance. Finally, Matthew Stafford moved past Philip Rivers in all-time passing touchdowns with his four-touchdown day on Monday Night Football.

8. Pittsburgh Steelers forced fumbles record
It is funny seeing you back here once again, Mr. Watt. Back in Week 1, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner needed just one forced fumble to set his franchise mark. T.J. Watt has been sitting on two forced fumbles to do the same thing for the Pittsburgh Steelers since the beginning of the 2026 season.
Although, it is not due to a lack of effort. Watt has had 3.5 sacks through two games this season; none of them have been strip sacks, however. Watt could tie the franchise record, currently held by George Lloyd, with a forced fumble, and would set the mark with a pair of them.
7. Atlanta Falcons receiving touchdowns by a running back
Bijan Robinson sat just two receiving touchdowns away from breaking the Atlanta Falcons’ franchise record for most scores of that variety by a running back last week. Given his circumstances at quarterback, that was always unlikely to happen. However, Michael Penix is officially back in the lineup for Atlanta this Thursday.
With his return comes higher hopes for the entire Falcons offense. Robinson needs just two receiving touchdowns to pass Devonta Freeman for the franchise record. With a capable quarterback playing this week, Robinson could tie or set the record for himself for another Thursday Night Football historic moment.
