The biggest winner from the Aaron Rodgers-Steelers news is obvious

Who is the biggest winner? Well, it's obvious.

Aaron Rodgers will indeed be signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but who is the biggest winner from this move? Rodgers will likely play one more season in the NFL. The four-time MVP turns 42 years old in December and just played the past two seasons for the New York Jets.

It's clear that Rodgers isn't the QB he once was, but he did throw for 28 touchdown passes in 2024, so he can at least still produce at a moderate level, and the Steelers have been searching for stable QB play for years now. However, signing veterans like this is not the way to do it.

While Pittsburgh did seem to find a QB upgrade from the 2023 season, they still aren't going to be much of a threat in the playoffs, if they even get there. Let's put that to the side for a second, though. Who is the biggest winner from this move?

DK Metcalf is obviously the big winner here

I have a feeling that DK Metcalf did probably know for a while that Aaron Rodgers was signing with the Steelers, but now it'll be official. Metcalf played the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks, catching 438 passes for 6,324 yards and 48 touchdowns. Metcalf is a two-time Pro Bowler and has never finished a season with fewer than 900 receiving yards.

When you consider that Metcalf can be a high-volume player, can rack up a ton of yards, and is the Steelers best playmaker by a long shot, it's easy to see why he's the big winner here. Metcalf has also missed just three games in his entire career, so he's durable. Moreover, he has never been targeted fewer than 100 times in any season of his career.

It's very likely that Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf are going to form a prolific duo together in the 2025 NFL Season. Metcalf's career-highs are 90 receptions, 1303 yards, and 12 touchdowns. All three of those figures came in different season. But if you ask me, he'll have career-highs in everything in 2025.

Rodgers is going to feed their top target.
