Round 2, Pick 34: Kelvin Harmon, WR, NC State

Thanks to their trade with the New York Jets in last years draft, the Indianapolis Colts now hold the second pick of the second round of in the 2019 NFL Draft. This is a massive advantage for the Colts considering the number of highly ranked prospects still projected to be on the board here.

In this mock, I have the Colts filling their need at wide receiver, despite adding Funchess, and taking one of my favorite wide receiver prospects in this draft: Kelvin Harmon out of NC State.

Both D.K. Metcalf and N’Keal Harry should be gone by this pick, which leaves my third rated wide receiver of this draft, Harmon, here for the taking. I think Funchess is a nice addition for the Colts, but his one year deal shows they are not committed to him long-term and he does not possess the upside of Harmon.

Harmon would be a perfect fit for the Colts, as he would pair perfectly with Hilton. Hilton is known for his speed and ability to take the top off of defenses with his go routes. The Colts lack a big, dominant wideout who can win 50/50 balls and be a bigger threat in the redzone.

While Hilton would be burning defenses deep, Harmon would be able to open up the middle of the field with his big body and ability to win jump balls against teams bigger corners. At 6-3, Harmon has a near perfect body size to be a team’s No. 1 wide receiver.

Harmon had a very productive college career for the Wolfpack, logging back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons in the ACC. He was also able to be a threat in the red zone, recording 16 touchdowns in three years. Harmon would be a very reliable threat for Luck and would help open this offense up and make it even more dangerous than before.
