4. Gordon tops 200 total yards

To say that Melvin Gordon got off to a slow start for the Los Angeles Chargers after ending his holdout would be a vast understatement. The veteran running back looked completely lost over his first four games following his return to the team. He rushed for no more than 32 yards in any of his first four outings and also didn’t top 50 total yards in any of those games.

The last two weeks have been a different story, however. In a win over the Packers two weeks ago, Gordon clearly started to show signs of bouncing back as he ran for 80 yards on 20 carries and found the end zone twice, along with catching three passes for 29 yards. He followed that up with 22 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown against the Raiders, adding 25 receiving yards.

Part of Gordon’s spike in production is due to him getting back in game shape and getting comfortable, to be sure. However, the offensive line getting healthier and the dismissal of former offensive coordinator Ken Wisenhunt were likely helpful as well. In any case, Gordon has been running well and will look to do so again versus KC.

The Chiefs run defense has remained entirely problematic as of late. They’re giving up an average of 148.1 rushing yards per game this season and teams have proven that a way to beat them is to just pound the rock and try to take the offense out of the equation. The Chargers know that and will give Gordon a huge amount of work, which he’ll take advantage of with a monster day.
