Stud: James White

One positive and stud for New England in Week 6 was the play of running back James White out of the backfield. As we have seen often in the past, White led the Patriots offense with his ability to run the ball on the ground and catch the ball out of the backfield during any given game.

That was the case on Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium, with White doing a little bit of both for New England. The running back led the receiving group with a game-best eight catches on nine targets, totaling 65 yards through the air. On the ground, he finished with four carries for eight yards.

White will continue to be a big part of the Patriots offense. He certainly was on Sunday in the loss to Denver.

Dud: Overall passing game

With Cam Newton returning to the field for New England this week, many thought the Patriots passing game would take a step up from what was on display in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Unfortunately, Newton had a tough game under center for the Patriots, specifically in the passing attack.

Newton finished with just 157 yards through the air and his receiving group didn’t do much on the outside of the field either. The Patriots receivers finished with 195 yards receiving in the loss, with White being the only player that tallied 40 or more yards through the air.
