2. Patrick Mahomes gets back on track with 300 yards passing

Against Denver, Patrick Mahomes only had 200 yards passing. That doesn’t seem like the player that we know and have come to admire, especially a reigning Super Bowl MVP. Two straight games under 300 yards can be considered an anomaly.

A large part of what took place against the Broncos can be attributed to being sacked three times by Denver’s defense, which is led by Vic Fangio.

The Jets, meanwhile, are without question aggressive on defense. However, when Andy Reid was in Philadelphia, he had an aggressive defensive coordinator in the late great Jim Johnson. A number of those principles have been shown by the Jets this season. Given that Reid is familiar with the scheme, you can expect him and Eric Bieniemy to dial-up plays that can counter heavy blitzing with quick passes and speed.

Though Mahomes will have to endure a few hits, the line is motivated to block for both the run and the pass. A clean pocket gives the quarterback time to survey the field and diagnose the defense to pick them apart for a large chunk of points. Though Kansas City didn’t do anything spectacular on offense against Denver, they helped bring forth a 43-16 victory. What can they do against a vastly inferior team like the Jets? Damage.

Tyreek Hill had 55 yards and the only touchdown while Travis Kelce had 31. Granted, a divisional game doesn’t always produce the highest offense. Kansas City will likely come out blazing from the opening staff and the likelihood of dropping 50 on the Jets is possible given their current state.  Kansas City hasn’t gone off in the last two games, but this is the right time to do it.
