Browns could replace baker Mayfield with Tua Tagovailoa

Another former top quarterback, speculation on if Tua Tagovailoa being traded started last year and will likely continue through this season. While the Dolphins did ok this past season, Tagovailoa was never a great option. With Miami bringing on a new coaching staff, Tagovailoa could very well be shown the door in favor of a different player.

Tagovailoa hasn’t developed into the top quarterback that he looked like while Alabama, but he is a safe and relatively consistent option for an offense. Honestly, he played some of his best football when the offense moved through the ground game, again making him a good fit with the Browns. He usually favors safer passes, which limits the passing game’s explosiveness but can also limit turnovers.

If the Browns want to move away from the erratic and risky play that Mayfield represents, Tagovailoa would be a safer choice. In terms of what the Dolphins would want in a trade, a second-round pick would likely get the deal done. He’s cheap, he’s efficient, and he plays a safer, more conservative game than Mayfield. If the Browns rely on the running game, Tagovailoa would be a good fit for this team.
