Making a starting offense with remaining NFL free agents in 2023
Making a starting offense with remaining NFL free agents: Offensive Line
Left tackle: Taylor Lewan
Taylor Lewan, when healthy, is one of the best left tackles in the NFL, but his inability to stay on the field more or less prompted the Tennessee Titans to release the Pro Bowl player. I’d personally love Lewan on my favorite team. He plays with a mean streak and is very good at his job.
Left guard: Gabe Jackson
Gabe Jackson is set to enter his age-32 season in the NFL and has started over 100 games for the Raiders and the Seahawks. He was cut after spending the past two seasons in Seattle. He’s not the above-average guard he once was, but I think Jackson is still perfectly serviceable.
Center: Ben Jones
Another Tennessee Titans’ cap casualty, Ben Jones brings 11 years of NFL experience between the Titans and the Houston Texans. He turned into one of the best centers in the NFL during his time with the Titans and even though he’s 33 years old, he showed no signs of slowing down in 2022.
Right guard: Justin Pugh
Justin Pugh has played both tackle and guard in the NFL but only played in five games this season because of injury. Pugh is a quality option for the interior if he wants to keep playing and if a team perhaps suffers an injury to one of their interior players.
Pugh can still provide something to a new team.
Right tackle: Billy Turner
Billy Turner has played both guard and tackle in the NFL and has split time between the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, and Green Bay Packers. With Turner’s versatility along the offensive line, he’d be a valuable pickup for numerous teams if he can stay healthy.
From left to right, our free agent offensive line looks like:
- LT: Taylor Lewan
- LG: Gabe Jackson
- C: Ben Jones
- RG: Justin Pugh
- RT: Billy Turner
Honestly, not a bad unit, right?
