Scouting Report. EDGE. Ohio State. 2. 31. Pick Analysis. Chase Young. player

Giants trade: No. 4, 36 and 2021 second-rounder
Redskins trade: No. 2

More from NFL Spin Zone

Recently, I wrote about the Giants having a ton of options with the No. 4 overall pick. They could potentially land Isaiah Simmons out of Clemson, a game-changing defender. New York could also grab the offensive tackle of their choice. Or they could trade down.

At the same time, the Washington Redskins — admittedly a division rival — are sitting at the No. 2 pick but don’t have a second-round selection. Furthermore, though they could use an edge rusher, it’s not exactly their most pressing need. Meanwhile, it may be the most pressing need for Big Blue’s defense as they lack players who can make an instant impact as an edge pass-rusher.

Chase Young immediately would change that for the G-Men. The Ohio State product may not be a juiced up athlete like Myles Garrett or Jadeveon Clowney but he’s plenty athletic with just as much strength and more polish as a refined, technical pass-rusher. He has a full tool chest and is readymade to harass NFL offensive lines and quarterbacks.

Because this would have to be a trade within the NFC East, it’s another that’s near impossible to see happening. But as Washington lands more draft capital to help their rebuild and the Giants get the defensive presence they need, this is an intriguing deal.
